Statistical criteria for limiting the measurement of radionuclide activity by plastic scintillators

The paper is devoted to the estimation of characteristic limits (statistical criteria) for detection small amounts ionizing radiation by a measuring device under conditions natural radioactivity background environment: decision threshold, limit, minimum detectable activity and confidence interval. assessment procedures were carried out in accordance with national harmonized standard DSTU ISO 11929-3:2009. threshold making on presence 137Cs 60Co radionuclides objects external environment limit their using equipped plastic scintillators manufactured Institute Scintillation Materials National Academy Sciences Ukraine estimated. influence energy detected radiation, dimensions geometry irradiation investigated.
